Nobody had anything for the blue deuce at the paperclip. Chase Elliott got the lead for a brief amount of time, but wasn't able to hold on to it. Keselowski was the dominant car, leading over 400 laps of the race. Chase said he would have put the bumper to him if he had caught him, but I haven't seen that kind of aggression from the kid yet.

It's on to Texas, where we will see if the new aero package has anything positive to show. We will see a change in the qualifying rules this week, but I'm not sure how much that will effect things. Time to see if anyone other than Penske or Gibbs can win this year.

Next Race: Texas on March 31st!

Kyle Busch does it again. Sweeping the weekend and winning his 199th NASCAR race. I've never been a fan of his, but you cannot deny the guy is good. He ran down Ryan Blaney with 18 to go and he set sail. Truex tried to make it interesting at the end, making up close to 7 seconds on Busch in the last 22 laps. Most folks were trying to save fuel to make it to the end, but obviously Truex wasn't on the same plan.

Busch has now won every race at Phoenix, that he has been entered in, since the reconfiguration of the track last fall. We'll move on to Auto Club Speedway this weekend. I'm calling Truex, Larson, Blaney top 3 this week.

We got to see some of the new competition rules last weekend at Atlanta. They ran the aero package but did not run the front fender ducts. That, combined with Atlanta's rough surface did not create the tighter pack racing that we saw in the All-Star Race in Charlotte last year. Kyle Larson seemed to be he class of the field until he made a critical mistake on pit road and was penalized for speeding. Once he got back in the pack, his car wasn't set up for the handling he needed to make his way back to the front.

Brad Keselowski showed up for the majority pick holders last week and sealed the win. This was Ford's first win with the new Mustang body. Brad had been sick all weekend, but said in the pre-race that he and his car were good enough to win the race; and he was right. If I were him, I would have talked smack in Victory Lane after beating the entire field while under the weather!

This week we are racing in sin city, Las Vegas. The combination package will be ran here; new high downforce aerodynamic package and the front fender ducts. This will create more draft opportunities and more of the pack racing that we saw at the All-Star race in Charlotte last year. Las Vegas has a smoother surface as well, so the racing will be much different than last week, making this race more of a wild card race!

Next Race: Las Vegas on Sunday March 3rd!
