Race 16 - Sonoma

Race 16 -Sonoma

Pole Winner: #42 Kyle Larson
Race Winner: #78 Martin Truex Jr
Majority Pick: #47 AJ Allmendinger

Pool Standings:
1. Bigwood - 145
2. Kat - 153
3. Hot Rod - 164
4. CheckersorWreckers -166
5. Jekyll and Hyde - 170

Total domination by Truex and his 78 team this past weekend. They gambled on a 1 stop strategy, and it paid off for them. Harvick seemed to have the second fastest car in the race, but couldn't come close at the end. The majority pick, AJ Allmendinger, hit the money shift (going from 2nd gear to 1st, instead of 3rd), and blew it up early in Stage 2. Just after winning Stage 1. Other than that, the race was pretty uneventful, and some would say boring. The cars don't run off the track and wreck like they used to at the road courses.

Our leader last week was one who had the 47 car, so he's now fallen from the top. These last two weeks will be wild with such a close race in our standings. Good luck to everyone who has a shot. Also, I will be sending out sheets for the next half of the season this week. Let's try and recruit so we can have some bigger numbers for the second half!

Race 15 - Michigan

Race 15 - Michigan

Pole Winner: #41 Kurt Busch
Race Winner: #14 Clint Bowyer
Majority Pick: #9 Chase Elliott

Pool Standings:
1. CheckersorWreckers -128
2. Bigwood - 142
3. Kat - 147
4. Hot Rod - 151
5. Asleep at the wheel - 166

Clint Bowyer and his team gambled on the last pitstop and took home the money and the trophy in the rain shortened race. His crew chief opted for two tires and it was enough to hold off the field, mainly Kevin Harvick, for the win. Harvick was about a foot away from clearing Bowyer coming out of turn two, and Bowyer took the high line momentum and rocketed past Harvick. Stenhouse spun a few laps later that probably saved Bowyer. That extra time under caution kept him in the lead and allowed the rain to come in and end the race.

Fords continued their dominance, claiming 7 out of the top 10 positions. The other manufacturers have their work cut out for them if they want to compete for the title. Kyle Larson wasn't able to cash in on his fourth straight win due to spinning early in the race and damaging his splitter.

If any of you did not see Clint Bowyer celebrate after the race, get on YouTube and find it. That man knows how to celebrate. I would love to be at one of their race win parties! But anyway, on to the road course this week. Let's see these guys work those pedals and wheels!

Also, our top guy is stretching out his lead again as we get close to the end of the first half of the season. We'll see if he can hold on to that this week.

Race 14 - Pocono

Race 14 -Pocono

Pole Winner: #12 Ryan Blaney
Race Winner: #78 Martin Truex Jr
Majority Pick: #12 Ryan Blaney

Pool Standings:
1. CheckersorWreckers -122
2. Bigwood - 129
3. Kat - 134
4. Hot Rod - 135
5. g-unit - 143

I did not see the first lap of this race, so here's a recap from NASCAR:

"Taking charge of Sunday’s Pocono 400 by staying out under caution on Lap 140 of 160, reigning Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champion, Martin Truex Jr. pulled away after a restart with seven laps left to win the race and inject himself emphatically into the title conversation.

The outcome was all about control. Five-time winner Kevin Harvick had it for most of the event, leading a race-high 89 laps. Four-time winner Kyle Busch had it late, winning the race off pit road on Lap 126 and leading Truex and Harvick until a debris caution slowed the action on Lap 139 and changed the course of the race.

Busch finished third and Harvick fourth, as Kyle Larson grabbed second place after a Lap 144 restart and held the rest of the way, finishing 2.496 seconds behind Truex. With the victory, the driver of the No. 78 Furniture Row Racing Toyota made sure NASCAR’s Dominant Duo of Harvick and Busch can rightfully now be renamed the Big Three."
