Wow. We had a wreck-fest at Bristol this weekend. Kyle Busch was involved in an accident on lap 3, made up 2 laps, and was putting together a nice run at the end before he cut a tire due to some hard racing. I was kind of hoping to see an old fashion butt whoopin, since Kyle put Truex out of the race 3/4 of the way through the race.

At the end of all the craziness, the other Busch brother stole the victory. Kurt Busch and Clint Bowyer battled it out for the win and Kurt got the best of him. That will probably silence a lot of the rumors that he may be getting the boot from his team next year. The win locks him in to the playoffs, and keeps the top 16 race for the Chase close.

We've got a bye week this week, so rest up for Darlington on Labor Day weekend.

Next Race: Darlington on September 2nd!

Well, Kevin Harvick brought the status quo back this weekend by winning for the 7th time and breaking tie with Kyle Busch. Harvick led the majority of the laps and had a dominating performance compared to the rest of the field. Keselowski came in 2nd, which was as good as a win for him the way his season has been going.

Not much else to say on this one. Heading to Bristol for some night race action next! Let's get after it boys!

What a race this past weekend! Congrats to Chase Elliott and his Hendrick's team on their first win. It's pretty cool that Chase, and his dad both got their first win on a road course. And the fact that Bill was there to see it, and spot for him, makes it even cooler. Truex gave it one hell of a shot at the end of the race. He could get to Chase's bumper, but could never make a pass. On the last lap, Chase over-drove it into turn 1 and I thought Truex was going to pounce, but he tried to cut it too hard under Chase and got sideways. This gave Chase just enough time to recover and hold on to the lead. Truex ended up running out of gas with a couple of turns to go, but it wouldn't have mattered b/c the #9 Chevrolet had his sights set on the checkered flag.

It was good to see someone outside of the "Big 3" win, especially seeing Chase win it. Some of those guys seemed to struggle a lot at the Glen. It looks like they will need to make some serious adjustments to get ready for the ROVAL in Charlotte in a couple months. The boys are heading to Michigan this weekend for some all-left-turn racing.

Next Race: Michigan on August 12th!

Kyle Busch showed his determination on Sunday when he out motored his JGR teammate, Daniel Suarez, for his sixth win of the season. He may have made it look easy, but 5 drivers in the top 10 do not have a win this year, so I'm sure he was giving it all he had. Harvick finished in fourth this week after his statement win last week. Even though he had a good run, he lost ground in the playoff point race to Busch.

Quick mention of Bubba Wallace. Glad he was able to walk away from that wreck. He said it was the hardest hit of his career, and I believe it. The crash was pretty violent, and props to NASCAR for keeping their safety at a high level. The in-car safety measures and the soft walls definitely played a role in Bubba walking away from that wreck.
They will turning right and left this week as they head to Watkins Glen. Hopefully we'll see some good racing action this week. Who's your favorite to win?

Next Race: Watkins Glen on August 5th!
